Frequently Asked Questions About Our Fitness Studio
As FORM is a local community fitness studio, most will travel to and from the studio on foot, bike or by local transport. Should you wish to travel to the studio by car, on-street metered parking is available right next to the studio adjacent to Harrison Park. Please note that FORM is not responsible for any parking fines.
As our studio is situated in a residential area with apartments directly above the studio, Edinburgh Council have restricted our hours of opening to 07.30 to 19.00 Monday to Friday and occasionally on Saturday 0900 to 17.00. Within this daily time frame, the studio is currently operating a booking system through our website (formstrengthandmovement.com) for members to select group sessions and classes they wish to participate in.
Those thinking of joining can get in contact via our website in the contacts page for a free consultation before committing to a membership. This will give you the opportunity to look discuss the types of memberships with our PTs and book in a trial session.

This should be no later than 24 hours before the session, so that we can properly prepare for the number of members attending the session.
If a member cancels a session, this should be done no later than 24 hours before the start of the session to allow others the opportunity to book into the session. If a member cancels less than 24 hours, this is denying other members the opportunity to join the session and therefore if there is persistent late cancellation by a member, FORM reserves the right to suspend access to the booking system for a period of a week or more. We hope it will not come to this and we will engage with members if late cancellation is starting to happen regularly.
We believe better progress can be achieved in reaching your fitness goals through small group sessions and PT led classes allowing PTs to support and encourage you and help you improve your technique and fitness over an extended period of time. This approach is more personalised compared to the larger gyms which cater for a much greater population.
This fitness studio was opened for the local community to provide an accessible, convenient, friendly and personalised alternative to the larger gym groups. We have engaged with local residents during and after the successful planning application to ensure we operate in a considerate manner and allay fears regarding noise and parking. We operate under agreed reduced opening hours of Monday to Friday 0730 to 1900 and Saturday 0900 to 1700 and the facility can only ever be used as a fitness/wellbeing studio under its class 11 planning classification. We have conducted noise tests now the studio is operating and received positive responses that no noise can be heard. Our survey indicated that the large majority of members will travel to and from the studio using transport other than a car. We therefore believe that this studio will have a positive impact on the local community.
We have researched similar smaller independent fitness studios around Edinburgh and FORM’s pricing compares favourably with others with a more personalised offering.
Currently FORM offers strength and movement/fitness small group sessions and classes to encourage members to concentrate on both these key areas of fitness in a personalised and structured manner. There are few gyms in Edinburgh offering such an approach which we see as our main point of difference. We recognise the importance for all ages of maintaining muscle mass as well as flexibility and cardio.
Early in the New Year we will be extending our memberships to include FORM Baby for pre and post natal fitness groups and FORM Plus for over 60s classes to maintain and improve muscle mass as well as flexibility and cardio. As FORM Plus is class based we will be able to offer competitive memberships to encourage uptake. We will also be introducing more fitness based classes to suit students and those who wish a more competitive offering.
